Mamma Mafia

The Sisterhood

What we promise each other as women.

Leave Every Woman Stronger Than You Found Her

SCROLL

You do not have to earn your place here, or be the strongest, the funniest, the most successful, the most fearless, or the one who always has her shit together.

You only have to arrive as yourself.

MAMMA MAFIA is not built on women performing sisterhood, but on practising it. The way we speak about one another, hold each other’s stories, celebrate, disagree, tell the truth, make room and show up matters.

We will not always get it right, but this is the standard we return to.

The Code is what you promise yourself.

The Sisterhood is what we promise each other.

01The Seven Promises

Open each seal. Read what we ask of one another.

Tap a numeral to open its promise. The copper may gently fill as she reads, but this should not feel like a score, test or completion requirement.

The Standard

Leave Every Woman

Stronger Than You Found Her

Not a slogan. The behavioural standard by which our sisterhood is measured. Not more dependent on us. More connected to herself.

A woman's name should not become currency the moment she leaves the room.

We do not bond over tearing another woman apart.

We do not make entertainment from her mistakes.

We do not take the vulnerable thing she told us and turn it into a story for someone else.

If we have something to say about a sister, we should be willing to say it with the same integrity if she were standing beside us.

That doesn't mean pretending women never disappoint us.

It means handling each other's humanity with care.

We speak honestly.

We address things directly.

And when she is not in the room, her dignity still is.

The Reminder

Her dignity does not leave the room when she does.

02This Is Our Sisterhood

This is our Sisterhood.

We will not promise perfection.

Women are human here.

We will misunderstand each other.

We will have different opinions.

We will occasionally say the wrong thing.

We will have bad days, complicated seasons and moments when we forget the women we said we wanted to be.

The Sisterhood does not ask us never to get it wrong.

It asks us to care about how we make it right.

To return to respect.

To return to honesty.

To return to one another without abandoning ourselves.

Because sisterhood is not proven when everything is easy.

It is revealed in the way we handle each other when it isn't.

03The Two Halves

What we promise you. And what we ask of you.

We Promise You

I

Your name will be treated with dignity.

II

What you share in trust will be held with care.

III

We will show up without trying to own your life.

IV

We will tell you the truth with love.

V

We will not ask you to become smaller so we can feel bigger.

VI

You may remain entirely yourself here.

VII

We will do our best to leave you stronger than we found you.

We Ask of You

I

Speak her name well.

II

Hold what she entrusts to you.

III

Show up when you can.

IV

Tell the truth kindly.

V

Celebrate without comparison.

VI

Make room for women whose lives look different from yours.

VII

And when you leave another woman, leave her stronger.

Not because MAMMA MAFIA asks women to save one another.

Because sometimes a woman simply needs other women around her who refuse to participate in her disappearance.
